
Ahmedabad: A 16-year-old girl from Sabarkantha has tragically died after contracting a severe COVID-19 infection. She was admitted to Sola Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on June 4, where she was found to be suffering from a critical lung infection.
Despite being treated with antiviral medication, including Remdesivir, the teenager could not be saved. Her death marks the fourth COVID-related fatality in Gujarat over the past month, all of whom were women. Two of the victims died while undergoing treatment at LG Hospital, and two others, including the teenager, passed away at Sola Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the state. Rajkot has reported 10 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases in Gujarat to 980. Of these, 32 patients are currently hospitalized, while 948 are in home isolation. So far, 27 patients have recovered and been discharged. The total number of active Covid-19 cases in India touched 6,491, as of 8 am on Monday.
Health officials advise individuals in home isolation to regularly monitor their symptoms and follow all medical guidance to ensure their safety and recovery.
