Mumbai: Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is showing signs of a strong weekend finish. On Sunday, August 30, the film is inching closer to the rs 200 crore mark in India, with early estimates suggesting that the much awaited Yash starrer could reach the milestone very soon.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic hit cinemas on August 26 and opened with a massive response. The film reportedly earned around rs 101.10 crore net in India on its opening day, setting the tone for what looked like a big box-office run.
However, the pace slowed considerably after Day 1. The film is estimated to have collected around rs 37.65 crore on Day 2, followed by approximately rs 27.20 crore on Day 3 and rs 25.15 crore on Day 4. By the end of Saturday, its India net collection stood at roughly rs 190.45 crore.
Sunday has now brought another boost. Early tracking indicates that Toxic had added around rs 4.25 crore by Sunday afternoon, taking its running India net collection to approximately rs 195.35 crore. Since Sunday’s numbers are still coming in, the final Day 5 collection could be higher.
The film has also been performing well internationally. Its worldwide gross was reported to be around rs 254.75 crore by the end of Day 4, meaning the movie crossed the rs 250 crore mark globally within its opening weekend.
While the opening was clearly the biggest highlight, the film has faced mixed reactions from audiences and critics. That has led to some ups and downs in its daily collections. Still, Yash’s popularity has helped Toxic maintain a strong presence at the box office.
For now, all eyes are on the final Sunday figures. With the film sitting just a few crores away from rs 200 crore net in India, Toxic could officially cross the milestone by the end of Day 5 or shortly after.
The bigger question is whether the film can maintain this momentum in its second week. The answer will depend heavily on weekday occupancy and how strongly audiences continue to respond to the film.
