Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth has strongly condemned the body shaming directed at Katrina Kaif after the actor’s recent public appearance, calling the criticism “not fair” and “not kind.”
Katrina Kaif, who welcomed her son Vihaan with husband Vicky Kaushal in November 2025, faced intense online trolling in September 2026 when she attended the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Photos and videos from the event sparked unkind comments about her post-pregnancy appearance, with some users sharing before-and-after comparisons.
Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel, Soundarya, a mother of two, drew from her own experiences. “I have two children and it is not easy. When you have to go through that process, your body changes and having a child post a particular age is even more difficult. I had my second child when I was past my 35. Not easy. You have to give that woman that respect. Because what a woman can do physically, you can’t blame men because they can’t. It is not biology,” she said.
She added, “But you need to accept and acknowledge that a woman does. We are not asking the guy, ‘Why don’t you get pregnant?’ But when we go through that, my heart went out when that whole thing happened. It was not fair. It was not kind. Women go through a lot but it is special to be a woman.”
Soundarya’s remarks join a chorus of support from celebrities including Salman Khan, who criticised trolls on Bigg Boss 20, as well as Parineeti Chopra and Khushbu Sundar. The episode has reignited conversations about the unrealistic pressures placed on women especially mothers in the public eye to “bounce back” quickly after childbirth.
Her message is clear: pregnancy and motherhood involve profound physical changes that deserve empathy and respect, not judgment.
