Filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap, known for directing the 2010 blockbuster Dabangg, has reignited his feud with Salman Khan, leveling serious accusations against the actor and his family. In an interview with Screen, Kashyap described Salman as a “gunda” (goon), “badtameez” (ill-mannered), and “ganda insaan” (bad person), claiming the superstar lacks dedication to acting. According to Kashyap, Salman has shown little interest in his craft for the past 25 years, treating his work as a favor and prioritizing celebrity status over performance.
Kashyap further criticized the Khan family, calling them “vindictive” and accusing them of wielding significant control over Bollywood. He labeled Salman the “father of the star system,” asserting that the family, entrenched in the industry for over 50 years, manipulates processes and retaliates against those who defy them. Kashyap alleged that his career suffered after refusing to direct Dabangg 2, claiming the Khans sabotaged his subsequent projects.
The director also referenced his brother, Anurag Kashyap, who faced similar issues during the production of Tere Naam (2003), a Salman Khan film. Anurag, who wrote the script, left the project after conflicts with producer Boney Kapoor and was denied proper credit. Abhinav noted that Anurag had warned him about the challenges of working with Salman, describing industry figures as “vultures.”
Following Dabangg, Abhinav directed Besharam (2013), starring Ranbir Kapoor, which flopped commercially. He has not returned to directing since. Meanwhile, Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan directed Dabangg 2 (2012), and Prabhu Deva helmed Dabangg 3 (2019). Salman was last seen in Sikandar alongside Rashmika Mandanna and is currently hosting Bigg Boss 19. His next project, Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.
