New Delhi hosted a star-studded trailer launch for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, with actors Yash, Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil, Ravi Dubey, Kunal Kapoor and Shobhana among those present as the cast came together to unveil the much-awaited film.
The event marked Pratham Sankalp, described by the makers as the ceremonial beginning of Ramayana’s journey from Bharat to the world. In Indian tradition, a Sankalp refers to the conscious intention made before starting a major undertaking; for the Ramayana team, it was framed as a shared commitment to present one of India’s cultural epics with authenticity and reverence. It was also the first time the principal cast appeared together in public.
The evening opened with an address by Kumar Vishwas on the significance of the Ramayana, followed by a performance from sitar player Rishab Rikhiram Sharma, who gave a fusion arrangement to a set of devotional songs. Producer Namit Malhotra spoke about the vision behind the film and the years of work that went into it, and briefed the audience on how the casting process began.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram in the film, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, and pan-India star Yash, known as Rocking Star, plays Ravana.
Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi took the stage together to a strong response from the audience. Ranbir touched Kumar Vishwas’s feet on his entry and spoke about the character’s influence on his life, and thanked Arun Govil for his earlier portrayal of Lord Ram, calling it an example future generations would remember. Sai Pallavi said she felt some hesitation speaking in Hindi, and spoke about the responsibility of playing Sita.
Yash’s entry drew chants of “Daddy’s Home” and “Rocky Bhai” from the crowd; he thanked the audience and spoke about working with the rest of the cast.

Towards the end of the event, the makers revealed Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Ranbir Kapoor welcomed him by touching his feet, and Sunny spoke about his connection to the film. Several spiritual leaders, including Baba Ramdev and Anandmurti Gurumaa, also attended.
Co-producers Namit Malhotra’s DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations have partnered with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, which will handle the film’s distribution in India.
According to the makers, the trailer will be shown at Comic-Con San Diego on July 20, ahead of its release for audiences on July 24. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana releases in theatres on Diwali 2026, with the second part following in 2027.
