Ranbir Kapoor-Starrer ‘Ramayana’ Makers Share BIG Announcement

In a significant update for fans of the epic mythological saga, the producers of the ambitious pan-Indian film Ramayana have confirmed that the first official look of Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Ram will be unveiled on April 2, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Hanuman Jayanti.
The announcement came from producer Namit Malhotra on Ram Navami, effectively quelling speculation that the teaser might drop on that day instead. In an official statement shared on social media, Malhotra declared, “On 2nd April, Hanuman Jayanti, we take the first step together.” He emphasized the project’s profound cultural weight, noting, “This is a story that belongs to all of us, and every step we take has been guided by a deep sense of responsibility, devotion, and care to bring our very own Ramayana to life in its truest spirit and scale with utmost sincerity.”
Looking ahead, Malhotra added, “We look forward to sharing the next glimpse, Rama, on 2nd April, on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, as we begin to showcase all these years of our effort through a grand launch with fans to celebrate this moment, across the world.” He concluded by expressing gratitude to the audience: “Thank you for your love, faith, and patience.”
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Ranbir Kapoor in the iconic role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The production is reportedly one of the most expensive Indian films ever mounted, with extensive preparations already generating considerable excitement both domestically and internationally.
As part of its global rollout strategy, the team is gearing up for an international promotional campaign, expected to kick off with events in the United States. According to reports, Kapoor, Tiwari, and Malhotra are slated to participate in a media interaction there later this month, marking the film’s first major push outside India.
Ramayana is scheduled for a theatrical release worldwide on Diwali 2026, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027. The timing of the first-look reveal aligns with a day of deep religious significance for devotees of Lord Hanuman, adding a layer of cultural resonance to the launch.
On the same Ram Navami, filmmaker SS Rajamouli and the team behind Varanasi also engaged fans with a teaser clip showcasing an intense battle scene from the Ramayana epic, accompanied by the message, “You’ll see him in theatres by next Sri Rama Navami.” Their project is confirmed for an April 7, 2027 release.
