Television actors Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma have revealed they were victims of a devastating financial scam orchestrated by a trusted friend, resulting in the loss of their entire savings. In an emotional interview with Etimes, the couple shared their ordeal, explaining that the past two to three months have been exceptionally challenging, leaving them uncertain about their future. “We’ve been brought back to zero,” Puja stated, emphasizing their determination to rebuild despite the setback.
The couple disclosed that the perpetrator was someone they had known for three years and considered part of their family. Kunal, visibly shaken, noted that the betrayal has deeply affected him, while Puja added that it took them considerable time to speak publicly about the incident. “We are deeply hurt, but we don’t want to give up,” she said, highlighting their resolve to move forward. The couple chose not to reveal the identity of the individual responsible but indicated that they are pursuing legal action to recover their losses, a process Kunal described as a “long battle.”
Puja and Kunal, who married in 2020 and welcomed their son Krishiv in 2021, shared their story in a vlog prompted by fan inquiries following Puja’s recent Instagram post on Eid. Kunal emphasized the importance of their fans’ support, stating, “We belong to an industry where our livelihood depends on your love.” The couple expressed gratitude for their fans’ prayers and encouragement as they navigate this difficult period. Puja also mentioned visiting the Icchapurti Hanuman temple with Krishiv, seeking strength to face the challenges ahead.
