Mirzapur: The Movie Gets ‘A’ Certificate, Runtime Revealed, Here’s How Long Guddu And Kaleen Bhaiya Will Be On Screen
Mumbai: Mirzapur: The Movie is almost ready to reach theatres, and the film has now got its censor certificate. The movie has been given an ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and will run for 197.19 minutes, which is roughly 3 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds.
The film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh, is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 4, 2026. The CBFC certification was issued on August 29, just days before its theatrical release.
The ‘A’ certificate means the movie is meant strictly for adult audiences. That may not come as a shock to people who have followed Mirzapur. The franchise has always been known for its violence, strong language and dark crime drama, and the movie appears to be carrying that tone to the big screen.
What makes the release particularly interesting is the return of several familiar faces. Ali Fazal is back as Guddu Pandit, while Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya. Divyenndu will also be seen as Munna Tripathi, a character whose return has been one of the biggest talking points among fans.
The cast also includes Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur and Abhishek Banerjee. The movie has also added actors such as Ravi Kishan, Mohit Malik and Sonal Chauhan.
There is also a change that longtime viewers are likely to notice. Jitendra Kumar plays Bablu Pandit in the movie, taking over a role that was played by Vikrant Massey in the first season of the series.
While the makers have not revealed too much about the plot, the film continues to revolve around the power struggle that has defined the Mirzapur universe. Revenge, old rivalries and the fight for control are expected to remain at the heart of the story.
And if you have forgotten everything that happened in the series, there is no need to rewatch all three seasons before heading to the theatre. Ali Fazal has advised fans to revisit Season 1, Episodes 1 to 6, which he said would help them understand the story leading into the film.
With its A certificate, a runtime of more than three hours and the return of some of the franchise’s biggest characters, Mirzapur The Movie has plenty riding on it. Fans will finally find out on September 4 whether the franchise’s trademark chaos works just as well on the big screen.
