The makers of Bhagam Bhag 2, the long-awaited follow-up to the 2006 cult comedy hit, have confirmed a significant casting shift as the project nears its production phase. Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee is joining the ensemble alongside returning stars Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, stepping into a key role originally held by Govinda in the first film.
The original Bhagam Bhag, directed by Priyadarshan, showcased the comedic synergy of Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal in a tale of a theatre troupe entangled in mistaken identities, slapstick mishaps, and chaotic humour. The movie gained a loyal following over the years for its blend of situational comedy and energetic performances.
According to reports citing industry sources, including a detailed account from Variety India, Govinda will not reprise his character in the sequel. Discussions with the actor reportedly did not lead to a confirmed involvement, prompting the team to bring in Manoj Bajpayee for a prominent part. The sequel will be helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, a director recognised for delivering commercially viable comedies.
