BENGALURU: Kannada actor and comedian Madenur Manu, known for winning Comedy Khiladigalu Season 2, was arrested on Thursday following allegations of rape by a 33-year-old television actress. The arrest, occurred just hours before the release of Manu’s latest film, Kuladalli Keelyavudho, on May 23, sending shockwaves through the Kannada entertainment industry.

According to the complaint filed at Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru, the actress accused Manu of sexually assaulting her in November 2022 during a trip to Shikaripura, Shivamogga, for a comedy event. The two had first met in 2018 during a comedy show and developed a friendship. The complainant alleged that Manu raped her, resulting in a pregnancy, and coerced her into taking abortion pills.
