Jaya Bachchan Once Hit Bhojpuri Actor Dinesh Lal Yadav With A Stick

New Delhi: Jaya Bachchan, the veteran actress renowned for her quick temper, frequently makes news with her sharp exchanges toward Mumbai’s persistent paparazzi or unsuspecting bystanders. In a fresh revelation, Bhojpuri cinema star Dinesh Lal Yadav, better known as Nirahua, shared a lively anecdote from their time filming together, describing how the screen icon once delivered a genuine whack with a prop stick during production.

The incident unfolded on the set of the 2012 drama Ganga Devi, where Nirahua shared the screen with Jaya Bachchan and her husband, Amitabh Bachchan. In a pivotal scene, Nirahua’s character was scripted to strike his on-screen wife, prompting Jaya Bachchan portraying his mother to intervene with a scolding and a mock beating using a stick. But as Nirahua recounted in a candid chat with YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, the veteran took her role to heart, landing the blows with unscripted force.

“There was this sequence where I had to slap my wife in the story, and Jaya ji, as my mother, was meant to reprimand me by hitting me with a stick,” Nirahua explained. “She didn’t hold back she struck me for real, and it stung! She’s got such a fiery temperament.”

He went on to describe the exchange with a mix of humor and awe: “She gave me a couple of solid thumps, and I couldn’t help but say, ‘Jaya ji, that’s actually hurting!’ She shot back, ‘Well, why’d you go and hit my daughter-in-law like that?’ I laughed and replied, ‘That was just the scene but you’re really laying into me here!'”

Reflecting on the moment years later, Nirahua framed it as a rare honor. “Getting a beating from Jaya ji? That’s like receiving prasad,” he quipped. “How many artists get the chance to share a project with both Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan side by side?”

In contrast, his first encounter with Amitabh Bachchan stood out for its warmth. Overwhelmed upon meeting the legend, Nirahua found himself tongue-tied, but Big B quickly eased the tension. “He started chatting right away, poking fun at my jitters, discussing my songs, and keeping everyone in stitches,” Nirahua recalled. “The set felt lighter just because of him.”

Directed by Abhishek Chhadha, Ganga Devi also featured Gulshan Grover and Vinay Bihari in key roles, blending family drama with cultural depth.
