Veteran Bollywood icon Dharmendra, nearing his 90th birthday, is stable and resting comfortably following a brief hospital stay triggered by breathing difficulties, his wife and fellow actor Hema Malini confirmed Monday.
The legendary star was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for what his team described as a routine check-up. Journalist Vickey Lalwani, citing hospital sources, reported that Dharmendra arrived complaining of breathlessness and was placed in the ICU for monitoring. Staff assured Lalwani that the actor’s vital signs remained reassuring: heart rate at 70, blood pressure 140/80, and good urine output. “Nothing to worry,” the source told him, noting Dharmendra was sleeping peacefully.
Spotted at Mumbai airport in a pink-and-white floral salwar suit, Hema Malini paused for photographers who immediately asked about her husband. Folding her hands in gratitude, she smiled and declared, “Thank God,” signaling his improving condition.

Their daughter, actor Esha Deol, marked her 44th birthday on November 2 by posting a throwback family photo on Instagram. “I am because of you. I love you my papa & mamma,” she wrote, tagging @aapkadharam and @dreamgirlhemamalini.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s romance began on the 1970 sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawaan. Despite Dharmendra’s existing marriage to Prakash Kaur and their four children—Sunny, Bobby, Ajeeta, and Vijeta—the couple wed in 1980 and welcomed Esha and Ahvana.
On the professional front, Dharmendra will next appear in Sriram Raghavan’s war biopic Ikkis, starring alongside Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film also marks the debut of Akshay Kumar’s niece, Simar Bhatia.
Fans and well-wishers flooded social media with speedy-recovery messages after Lalwani’s X posts broke the news. For now, the Deol household breathes easier, grateful for the positive turn.
