Comedian Kunal Kamra Faces Third Summons Over Shinde Jibes: Mumbai Police Demand Appearance

The Mumbai Police have issued a third summons to comedian Kunal Kamra, directing him to appear on April 5 in connection with a case involving alleged derogatory remarks about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, authorities confirmed. The latest summons, delivered on Tuesday, requires the 36-year-old to report to Khar police station, where an FIR was filed against him last month.
Kamra has already missed two prior summons, failing to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, according to officials. The case originates from a parody song he performed during a Mumbai show, which appeared to mock Shinde leader of the Shiv Sena after his split from Uddhav Thackeray by implying disloyalty, though the song avoided naming him directly.
The performance sparked outrage among Shiv Sena supporters, leading to an attack last month by party activists on the studio where it was recorded. Following a complaint from a Sena MLA, Khar police lodged an FIR against Kamra under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to defamation and public mischief.
