In a significant development in her ongoing legal battle, Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly appeared before a metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri, Mumbai, alongside her estranged husband, Austrian hotelier Peter Haag. The court, during the first hearing of her domestic violence complaint filed in November, directed both parties to submit their income affidavits by January 27. It also instructed Haag to file his response to the allegations.
Jaitly’s petition, lodged under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, accuses Haag of subjecting her to sustained physical, verbal, and emotional abuse throughout their 15-year marriage. Represented by the law firm Karanjawala & Company, she is seeking ₹100 crore in compensation and ₹10 lakh per month in maintenance.
The couple married in Mumbai in 2010 and relocated frequently—living in Mumbai, Dubai, Singapore, and Austria—due to Haag’s professional assignments. According to reports from Hindustan Times, Jaitly alleges that Haag systematically undermined her financial independence and dignity through coercive control. She claims he restricted her professional opportunities, blocked access to her earnings, and rendered her dependent on him.
The petition further describes Haag as a “self-absorbed individual” lacking empathy toward her or their children. Additional accusations include financial misappropriation, such as unauthorized use of her bank accounts, debit and credit cards, and control over her documents and passport.

A key dispute centers on a 2019 gift deed that transferred ownership of her Mumbai flat to Haag. Jaitly contends she signed it during a period of mental vulnerability. She alleges Haag subsequently rented out the property without her consent, generating around ₹1.26 crore in income. The complaint also claims Haag sold a jointly owned property in Vienna without informing her.
The case highlights allegations of intensified abuse after the family relocated to a remote Austrian village. Jaitly reportedly left Austria with assistance from a neighbor after discovering withheld documents.
The court proceedings mark the initial step in what appears to be a protracted legal process, with both sides now required to provide financial disclosures for further evaluation.
