‘I Am Calling It Off’: Arijit Singh Announces Retirement From Playback Singing

The voice that gained momentum after “Tum hi ho”, ‘Chahun Main Ya Naa’, ‘Kesariya’ and many more songs; often hailed as ‘Voice of a Generation’ has announced to step back by not indulging into further playback singing assignments. Yes, you heard it right! It’s none other than Arijit Singh. 

The most celebrated vocalist, Arijit Singh, known for his contemporary music that this generation has fallen in love with has brought to the public domain that he will no longer continue to pick any new playback assignments as a playback vocalist thanking people to shower their support and kindness.

Posting on his Instagram account on Tuesday he wrote, “Hello, Happy new year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey. God has been really kind to me. I am fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist. Thanks again for all your support. I still have to finish some pending commitments, will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music.”

His decision to step down from the projects have fled the internet with heartfelt responses. Many listeners reminisced about the emotional depth of his work, noting how his songs have shaped people’s moment in life as a companion. However, he promised to complete the pending work and asserted that he will still continue to make music as he plans to continue as an independent artist.
