Mumbai: Alia Bhatt has set the tone for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited Love & War with a striking first look poster that brings vintage glamour, drama and mystery together. The poster, unveiled by Bhansali Productions on September 25, gives audiences their first official glimpse of Bhatt’s character ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on January 21, 2027.
In the poster, Bhatt appears in a red sequinned co-ord outfit, seated against a richly styled backdrop and sporting an elaborate feathered hair accessory. The retro inspired styling gives the character a distinctly theatrical appearance, hinting at the film’s larger visual world. The poster carries the line, “Aag bhi, dilon ki jaan bhi!”, alongside the release date.
The reveal comes just a day after the makers introduced Ranbir Kapoor’s first look. Kapoor was shown in a distinctly retro avatar behind the wheel of a vintage car, with slicked back hair, sunglasses and a moustache. His poster also contained visual clues pointing towards the film’s war setting, including a bloodied arm and a bullet mark on his shirt.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Love & War brings together Kapoor, Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film follows two army officers, played by Kapoor and Kaushal, whose lives become entangled in a love triangle involving Bhatt’s character, according report. The project also marks Bhansali’s reunion with Kapoor after Saawariya (2007) and with Bhatt after Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The film has officially completed its principal shoot, with Bhansali and the team marking the wrap before moving into post-production. However, recent reports have said that portions of the war sequences were subsequently brought back for additional filming, with Kapoor, Bhatt and Kaushal returning to the set.
Love & War is scheduled for a January 21, 2027 theatrical release and is being presented as a major romantic drama built around love, conflict and military characters. With the makers now revealing the leads one poster at a time, anticipation is building around what Bhansali has created for the big screen.
