Noida Airport Flights To Start In 45–60 Days, Says Aviation Minister Naidu

Noida: Commercial flight operations from the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, are expected to commence within the next 45 to 60 days, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said, according to a report by Moneycontrol. The announcement comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure.

As reported by Moneycontrol, Naidu indicated that preparations are in their final stages, with security arrangements currently being worked out. He added that IndiGo has expressed interest in initiating flight services from the airport once operations begin.

The Noida International Airport, one of the country’s largest greenfield airport projects, has been developed with an initial capacity to handle around 12 million passengers annually. Once all phases are completed, the airport is expected to scale up significantly, with the ability to manage up to 70 million passengers per year.

According to Moneycontrol, the first phase of the project has been built at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore. The airport will be operated by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, under a public-private partnership model.

The facility features a 3,900-metre runway capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft, along with advanced navigation systems such as an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and modern airfield lighting. These features are designed to support efficient and safe operations under various weather conditions.

The airport has also received its aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a crucial step before commencing commercial services.

The development is expected to enhance connectivity in the National Capital Region and ease congestion at existing airports, as authorities move closer to making the new aviation hub fully operational.
