Gold Prices Slip on December 31: Check Latest Rates Across Mumbai, Ahmedabad And Major Indian Cities
Mumbai: Gold prices declined on Wednesday, December 31, with MCX gold futures experiencing a sharp drop following a period of recent volatility. MCX gold fell Rs 1,140, representing a 0.8 per cent decrease from the previous close of Rs 1,36,666 to reach an intraday low of Rs 1,35,526. The pullback followed a strong rally earlier this week fueled by escalating geopolitical tensions.
Internationally, COMEX gold futures traded between $4,350 and $4,360 per ounce, slightly below Tuesday’s closing level near $4,386.
Market sentiment remained subdued as investors monitored global events. Both gold and silver had staged a robust recovery on Tuesday from intraday lows, driven by renewed safe-haven buying. The uptick was prompted by obstacles in Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations, US military action targeting Venezuelan dockyards, and Chinese naval exercises amid rising US-Taiwan tensions.
