Pet Owner Arrested After Rottweiler Mauls 4 Month Old Girl To Death In Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A four-month-old baby girl was fatally mauled by a pet Rottweiler inside Radhe Residency, a residential society near Hathijan Circle in Ahmedabad on Monday night. The attack occurred while the infant was with her aunt. Both were injured, but tragically, the baby succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Following the incident, police conducted an investigation and arrested the dog’s owner, Dilip Patel.

Authorities confirmed that the Rottweiler was not registered with the municipal corporation, a legal requirement for pet ownership in the city. Residents of the society revealed that this wasn’t the first time the dog had shown aggressive behavior. There were previous complaints of the Rottweiler harassing others, and the society had reportedly asked Patel multiple times to take action. Despite warnings, no preventive steps were taken, leading to what authorities are calling gross negligence.

The AMC’s Communicable Disease Control (CNCD) team reached the society Tuesday morning. By then, the owner had locked his flat and was untraceable. The Rottweiler was later found at a different location in Memnagar and has been transferred to an animal shelter in Danilimda.

Officials stated that a blood sample will be taken from the dog to assess its health and investigate whether there were any underlying conditions influencing its behavior. CCTV footage capturing the attack in the society’s parking area has also surfaced, adding to the mounting evidence. Meanwhile, the grieving family has demanded strict action against the pet owner.
