NIA Nabs Nabha Jailbreak Fugitive Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, Key Aide of Khalistani Terrorist Rinda

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, a key Khalistani operative linked to the 2016 Nabha jailbreak, in Bihar’s Motihari, according to an official statement.

Galwaddi, a native of Ludhiana, Punjab, was apprehended in coordination with local police as part of an ongoing investigation into a Khalistani terror conspiracy. He was closely associated with Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda and had been on the run since escaping from Nabha jail.

The NIA described Galwaddi as a significant figure within Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Rinda’s network operating out of Nepal. He was accused of aiding Khalistani operatives by providing shelter, logistical support, and funding after their involvement in terror attacks, including the RPG assault on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters.

The agency had initiated a suo moto terror conspiracy case in August 2022 to investigate the activities of outlawed outfits like BKI, Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF). The probe revealed ties between terror networks and organized crime syndicates smuggling arms, explosives, and IEDs into India for terror strikes.

Galwaddi had been declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi NIA Special Court in connection with the 2022 conspiracy case, which also led to the issuance of non-bailable warrants and a Rs 10 lakh cash reward for information leading to his arrest.

In July 2023, the NIA filed a chargesheet against nine individuals, including Rinda and another Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa. Subsequent supplementary chargesheets included others, such as Landa’s brother Tarsem Singh, who was extradited from the UAE in August 2024.
