With tensions rising between India and Pakistan, and increasing number of drone attacks taking place in the border areas, the government of Gujarat reviewed the security arrangements in the border districts of the state. In a high-level emergency meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel at the State Emergency Operation Centre, the security measures taken by the administration in the border areas of the state were reviewed.
Amid the tense situation looming in the India-Pakistan border, the state government, in coordination with the central agencies, has been taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the citizens. As a part of which, planning is being done to ensure the availability of essential commodities, and making sure that the transportation and communication system remains operational. Directions were given by the Chief Minister to the administration to be fully prepared to face any untoward situation.
The emergency meeting was held in order to review the preparedness of Gujarat as a border state. The districts of the state connected to Pakistan by sea, land, and air borders have been put on high alert. Details of the security arrangements were also obtained from the administration authorities, police officers, and other senior district officials through video conference.
Meanwhile, in such emergency situations, it is extremely important that the medical services remain constantly operational. In view of this, a Medical Officer Class-2 has been appointed in the border districts of the state such as Jamnagar, Porbandar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Banaskantha, Patan, and Kutch. As per the orders of the government, 154 medical officers from different districts have been assigned duty at the border districts.
