Pakistan Ranger Detained By India, LoC Sees Night Of Biggest Ceasefire Violation

New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Pakistani Ranger along the international border in Rajasthan on Saturday, escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Hours later, Pakistani military posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across multiple sectors of the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of May 3-4, marking the tenth consecutive day of such violations. The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately.

The ceasefire breaches, the most extensive in recent days, spanned districts including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. This widespread engagement involved the highest number of Pakistani posts firing simultaneously.

The escalating conflict follows a deadly terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. India has accused Pakistan of supporting the attack, linking it to a group associated with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. The incident has fueled heightened diplomatic and military friction between the two nations.
