
Since the last few days, the Bangladeshis living illegally near the Chandola Lake are being arrested and their illegal encroachments are being removed as a part of the mega demolition taking place. During which, Lalla Bihari, the mastermind who helped the Bangladeshis stay illegally, had surfaced. After a lot of effort, Lalla Bihari, originally a resident of Ahmedabad, has been arrested from Rajasthan. Earlier, on April 29, his son Fateh Mohammad was also arrested.
Apparently, according to police investigation, Lalla Bihari was in Rajasthan. The Crime Branch team reached there as soon as they got this information. However, they could not find him. Although, he was nabbed later by the police during investigation. According to sources, not only Lalla Bihari, but other local political leaders also helped the illegally arriving Bangladeshis by providing them with documents. After the interrogation of Lalla Bihari, such political leaders might also be called for interrogation by the Crime Branch.
As per sources, Lalla Bihari was involved in illegal finance business. He used to bring Bangladeshis through agents from West Bengal and rent out places for ten to fifteen thousand rupees per person. Not only this, but there are also allegations of making false documents for illegal Bangladeshis. Police Commissioner GS Malik, while interacting with the media, informed that so far illegal houses and huts have been demolished in the Chandola Lake area, during which many documents were found from Lalla Bihari. He used to engage in activities including preparing forged documents and rental agreements. He used to rent out horses, rickshaws, etc. Lalla Bihari also kept 300 rickshaws.
On the other hand, Lalla Bihari had built a luxurious farmhouse by illegally encroaching land of the Chandola Lake. The farmhouse was equipped with various facilities, including, kitchen, swing, fountains, mini swimming pool, children’s play area, and rooms equipped with AC. Additionally, for cooling purposes, green nets were put and trees were grown on all sides of the farmhouse. Seized rickshaws were parked behind the farmhouse. The farmhouse was a leisure place for anti-social elements.
