Surat Teacher Who Eloped With 11-Year-Old Student Found After 4-Day Search, Travelled 2200 Km With The Minor

Surat: A 23-year-old school teacher from Surat who allegedly ran away with her 11-year-old student was finally tracked down and detained by police near the Rajasthan border after a frantic four-day search. The pair had reportedly travelled over 2,200 kilometers, making stops in several cities including Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, and finally Vrindavan.
The woman, identified as Mansi Nai, taught at a Hindi-medium school in Surat’s Punagam area and had been giving the boy private tuition for over three years. According to police, a close bond had developed between the teacher and the student over time, and preliminary investigations have hinted at a possible emotional involvement, although no formal confirmation of a romantic relationship has been made.
The case came to light on April 25 when the boy’s family reported him missing, alleging abduction. The Puna police swiftly launched a search operation, forming multiple teams and tracing CCTV footage and mobile signals. The footage showed the boy leaving with the teacher and shopping at a local store.
After crisscrossing Gujarat and Rajasthan by buses and autorickshaws, including visiting tourist spots like VR Mall (Surat), Kankaria Lake (Ahmedabad), Hawa Mahal (Jaipur), and Vrindavan’s water park and temples, the duo was finally intercepted by police in the early hours of April 29 aboard a private bus returning toward Ahmedabad.
The teacher admitted during interrogation that both she and the child were frustrated by repeated scolding from their families, she for not marrying, and he for academic performance, which led them to abscond.
Crucially, DCP Gadhvi revealed that the teacher allegedly engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the minor. Based on this claim, both were subjected to medical examination. Authorities have since invoked sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 127 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The boy has since been reunited with his family, meanwhile, Nai remains in custody as the investigation continues.
