Tragedy in Canada: 21-Year-Old Daughter of Punjab AAP Leader Vanshika Saini Found Dead

A 21-year-old Indian student, Vanshika Saini, who had been reported missing in Ottawa, Canada, has been found dead, the Indian High Commission confirmed. According to Times of India, her body was discovered near a beach. Vanshika had been untraceable since April 22.
Official Response from Indian Mission:
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on April 29, the High Commission of India (HCI) in Ottawa expressed grief over Vanshika’s death. “We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Ms. Vanshika, an Indian student in Ottawa. The matter is under investigation by local authorities. We are coordinating closely with her family and local community organizations to offer all possible support,” the mission stated.
Earlier, the HCI had sought assistance from the public regarding Vanshika’s disappearance, urging anyone with information to reach out to designated contacts.
Who is Vanshika Saini:
Vanshika had moved to Canada two and a half years ago after completing her Class 12th exams in India. She was pursuing a two-year diploma in health studies and had recently cleared her final exams on April 18. Following her academic achievement, she took up part-time employment at a call centre in Ottawa.
Her father, Davinder Saini, resides in Saini Mohalla, Dera Bassi a town near Chandigarh in Punjab’s Mohali district. Davinder is a local leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and serves as the bloc president, managing the office of Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa.
Family Raises Concerns:
According to reports, Davinder Saini suspects foul play in his daughter’s death. He last spoke to Vanshika on April 22. Concern grew when a friend informed the family about Vanshika’s disappearance on April 25. Her mobile phone had been switched off since their last conversation.
A missing person complaint was subsequently filed with Ottawa Police. Reports indicate that Vanshika left for work on April 22 but never returned. She was also preparing to take the IELTS examination, a crucial English proficiency test for international study, in the following days.
