Ahmedabad: A shocking incident has surfaced from Surat’s Puna area, where a 23-year-old teacher allegedly eloped with her 11-year-old student, sparking widespread discussion across the city. CCTV footage captured the teacher seen taking the student with her. Surat police have launched an immediate investigation into the matter, while the student’s family remains in a state of shock. The teacher turned off her mobile phone upon reaching the railway station, making the search operation more challenging for the police.

According to available information, on April 25, a fifth-grade student from Puna, who was playing outside his home, suddenly went missing. His family filed a kidnapping complaint with the police. Upon reviewing nearby CCTV footage, a startling revelation emerged: the boy was taken by his 23-year-old teacher. The woman had been tutoring the student for the past three years and had also worked as his class teacher at school. Both the teacher and the student lived in the same locality, which had led the family to trust her completely.

Police investigations revealed that the teacher reached Surat Railway Station with the boy around 5 PM. After arriving there, she switched off her mobile phone and boarded a train with the student. Authorities also discovered that the teacher had booked an online travel package through MakeMyTrip. In CCTV footage, she is seen carrying a bag filled with clothes, whereas the student appeared to have no belongings. A day before the incident, she was also seen leaving her home with the same bag.

The PI (Police Inspector) of Puna Police Station stated that the accused switched off her phone after reaching the railway station. CCTV footage from her house and the station shows her carrying luggage. The police are also investigating whether any other individuals are involved in the incident.

Separately, Gujarat witnessed an 18% increase in heart disease-related emergencies during the month of April.
