Gujarat Police Launches Crackdown On Illegal Immigrants, Initiates Power Cuts In Ahmedabad’s Chandola Lake

Ahmedabad: Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government has ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave the country. Gujarat Police has intensified its crackdown on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. As part of this effort, operations to cut illegal electricity connections in the Chandola Lake area, where many Bangladeshi nationals reside, have been carried out in Ahmedabad this morning.
Torrent Power teams, accompanied by local police security, arrived at the area to disconnect these illegal power connections, beginning the process of cutting off electricity supplies to various homes occupied by Bangladeshi nationals. Starting late on April 25, a coordinated operation was launched by the Crime Branch, SOG, EOW, Zone-6, and Police Headquarters in Ahmedabad.
By morning, a total of 890 individuals were detained from the areas around Chandola Lake. Among those detained, 470 were men, while the rest were women and children. The police cordoned off the suspected individuals and transported them to the Crime Branch grounds for further questioning.
This crackdown is part of a larger security initiative launched after the terror attack, focusing on preventing illegal immigration and addressing any potential security threats. Investigations are ongoing to verify the legal status of those detained, and authorities have assured that all illegal immigrants will be deported. Additionally, scrutiny of over 550 passports is also underway. Many of the detained immigrants had obtained fake documents through local agents after entering Ahmedabad.
