Noida Phase 2 Workers Protest Over Salary Hike Turns Violent; Cars Vandalised, Tear Gas Fired

New Delhi: Workers in Noida Phase 2 staged a protest on Monday outside a private company, demanding a salary hike. The demonstration, which began peacefully, soon turned violent as some protesters allegedly vandalised cars and damaged office property.
According to reports, sections of the crowd resorted to stone pelting and further acts of vandalism, leading to chaos in the industrial area. Police personnel rushed to the spot and deployed in large numbers to restore order. Officers used tear gas to disperse the agitated protesters and bring the situation under control.
The incident caused significant disruption in the area, with reports of traffic movement affected due to the gathering and subsequent violence. Heavy security forces remained present at the site as authorities worked to prevent further escalation.
The protest reflects ongoing labour grievances among workers in the region, centred primarily on demands for higher wages. While the initial gathering was aimed at pressing these demands, the situation deteriorated when a section of demonstrators allegedly turned aggressive.
No specific details on the exact number of protesters, injuries, or arrests were immediately available in initial reports. Police have maintained a strong presence in the area to ensure law and order is restored.
This marks the latest instance of labour unrest in the National Capital Region, where industrial workers have increasingly voiced concerns over compensation and working conditions in recent times.
