Mumbai: Umesh Chauhan, a vlogger who was injured when gunmen opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area, initially thought the sound was that of a tyre bursting. He realised he had been shot only after reaching the hospital.
The incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, when Tiger Shroff was leaving a football ground near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu. Chauhan was standing close to the actor’s car and recording a video when the attackers opened fire.
Speaking, Chauhan recalled that he heard a sudden sound and believed a tyre had burst. Soon afterwards, he felt severe pain in his chest and found it difficult to breathe.
“I did not know that I had been shot. I realised it only after I reached the hospital. Initially, I thought I was having a heart attack,” Chauhan said.
He said he cried out for help as the pain increased and he struggled to breathe. He later lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Shifted to KEM Hospital
Chauhan first received treatment at Cooper Hospital in Juhu. He was later shifted to the civic-run KEM Hospital in Parel around midnight for specialised care. According to KEM Hospital, Chauhan is stable and remains under close observation. Doctors said the bullet did not damage his heart or lungs. He is receiving treatment in the Emergency Intensive Care Unit, with specialists monitoring his condition.

Doctors are currently treating him without surgery. Further decisions will depend on his recovery and additional medical assessments. Chauhan also said that Tiger Shroff’s mother visited him on Tuesday and assured him of assistance.
Tiger Shroff Escapes Serious Injury
The firing targeted the car in which Tiger Shroff was travelling. The actor escaped serious gunshot injuries, while his driver and Chauhan were injured in the incident.
Videos of the attack showed armed men firing at the actor’s vehicle before fleeing on a motorcycle. Shroff subsequently took control of the car and drove his injured driver for medical assistance.
The incident led to a police investigation, with officers examining video footage and other evidence to establish how the attack took place.
Investigation Continues
Three suspects were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, after the firing, according to reports. Investigators are examining their alleged involvement and the circumstances surrounding the attack.
A social media post purportedly claiming responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has also circulated. However, police are verifying the authenticity of the claim, and the motive behind the attack remains under investigation. The case has raised concerns about public safety in Mumbai, particularly as the shooting took place in a public area where fans had gathered to see the actor. For Chauhan, what initially sounded like an ordinary tyre burst turned into a medical emergency. He is now recovering under medical supervision as the investigation into the firing continues.
