A 31-year-old woman from Telangana died in a road accident in the St. Louis area of Missouri, United States, after a truck collided with her car late on Saturday night.
Daram Supriya, a native of Maripeda in Mahabubabad district, was returning home after closing her restaurant when the accident occurred around 1.40 a.m. She died on the spot. A friend from Kodad in Suryapet district, who was travelling with her, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Supriya and her husband, Kodumuri Ranjith (also from Mahabubabad), lived in Wentzville, Missouri. She ran a restaurant while her husband works in the software sector. The couple had been married for about five years and have a two-and-a-half-year-old son.
Her father, D. Srinivas, who lives near Naidupeta Circle in Khammam, said the family was in shock after learning of the incident. He has written to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking government assistance to bring her mortal remains to India for the last rites. Relatives have also approached local police and public representatives for support.
