Thane: Vinod Kambli, once regarded as one of India’s top batsmen and a close friend of Sachin Tendulkar, is reportedly living at an old age home in Thane. A video and photographs of Kambli sitting on a bed and giving an interview at the facility have gone viral on social media.
According to a report, Kambli’s friend and former first-class cricket umpire Marcus Couto spoke about the former cricketer’s health during an interview. According to Couto, Kambli has been suffering from memory-related problems after developing a blood clot in his brain and remembers very little. He is able to remember certain things, but subsequently forgets them.
Reports that Kambli is staying at an old age home have raised concerns among his fans about his health. Kambli has reportedly given up alcohol, although one report claimed that he occasionally smokes. Doctors had previously advised him to quit smoking completely after warning him about the possibility of a brain stroke.
