Ahmedabad: Gujarat rain update: Various parts of Gujarat witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday. Ahmedabad, in particular, experienced heavy rain for the second consecutive day, causing the city’s main roads and low-lying areas to be inundated with water.
Waterlogging troubles motorists
The heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad led to waterlogging in several areas. With water accumulating on roads, motorists and pedestrians faced severe difficulties in commuting.
Rain risk in Saurashtra, Kutch and Central Gujarat
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall intensity is likely to continue across the state in the coming days. Heavy rain is particularly likely in Saurashtra, Kutch and Central Gujarat. Along with this, the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning strikes has also been flagged, prompting authorities to advise citizens to remain alert.
Gujarat sees below-normal rainfall despite the wet spell
As for the current monsoon season, despite the wet conditions prevailing in the state, data from the Meteorological Department shows that Gujarat has so far received below-normal rainfall. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has recorded above-normal rainfall this year, and heavy rain along with thunderstorms is expected there over the coming days as well. Local residents and tourists in the areas of Uttarakhand likely to receive rainfall have been advised to stay safe and to travel only after checking weather conditions.
