Police confirmed on Friday that a coach transporting Dutch tourists in eastern Switzerland collapsed this week, killing five people. The incident took place in the eastern canton of Graubunden on Thursday afternoon. A local police spokesperson told Swiss media on Thursday that the coach struck a safety barrier before toppling over and falling down an embankment.

The vehicle belongs to the tour firm Oad and was transporting 48 people, all of whom were from the Netherlands, the Dutch Federation of Travel Agencies (ANVR) informed AFP.

The coach departed the Netherlands on Monday and was traveling from Austria to Switzerland for the day when the collision occurred, according to the ANVR.

The Swiss national park, a huge Alpine reserve spanning more than 100 square kilometers (40 square miles) over the rugged Engadine valley, is accessible from Zernez.
