Mumbai: Becoming a mother does not mean an actress has to put her career on hold. That is the message Parineeti Chopra wants to highlight as she returns to work after embracing motherhood.
Speaking about actresses continuing their careers after having children, Parineeti said audiences are no longer turning away from women simply because they have become mothers. She pointed to Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra as examples of actresses who have continued to work and remain successful after motherhood.
“The audience is not cancelling mothers,” Parineeti said, stressing that the change is not just happening among actors but also with viewers. According to her, when audiences accept actresses as mothers, filmmakers and writers also become more confident about giving them meaningful roles.
Her comments come at an important point in her own career. Parineeti and politician Raghav Chadha welcomed their first child, a son named Neer, in October 2025. The actress has since spoken about balancing motherhood with her professional commitments.
Parineeti is now preparing for her next major project, Shaque: Trust No One. The thriller marks her debut in a web series and comes as she steps back into the spotlight after becoming a mother. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on September 24, 2026.
The actress’s comments also reflect a broader change in Bollywood. In the past, female actors have often faced questions about whether motherhood would affect their careers or limit the kind of roles offered to them. Today, several leading actresses are challenging that idea.
Alia Bhatt returned to acting after the birth of her daughter Raha and has continued to take on major projects. Deepika Padukone has also remained professionally active after welcoming her daughter Dua. Priyanka Chopra, who has built a career across Bollywood and Hollywood, has continued working while raising her daughter Malti Marie.
For Parineeti, the bigger change is in the way audiences look at women after motherhood. She believes actresses should not have to choose between being mothers and having successful careers.
With Shaque Trust No One, Parineeti is now experiencing that shift first hand. Her return could also add to a growing conversation in the Hindi film industry motherhood may change an actress’s life, but it does not have to mark the end of her career.
