
For the first time in its 72-year existence, the National Film Awards ceremony will take place in Kevadia, Gujarat, rather than Delhi. On September 22, President Droupadi Murmu will bestow the honors, officials said on Monday.
The tallest statue in the world, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is located at Kevadia, which has been renamed Ekta Nagar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 597-foot Statue of Unity in 2018.
The Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi hosted the first National Awards in 1954 and has since hosted the majority of award presentations. This tradition will change with the announcement of the 72nd edition of the awards in July.
Yami Gautam, the lead actress in Article 370, has been crowned the best actress and the finest feature film. Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan and Malayalam superstar Mammootty will split the best actor award for their respective parts in Chandu Champion and Bramayugam.
For Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, a biopic on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, actor-director Randeep Hooda has won the best debut director award. The Tamil film Captain Miller, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Dhanush, has been voted the best feature film supporting “National, Social, and Environmental Values,” while the Telugu science-fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD will get the prize for best popular film “providing wholesome entertainment.”
