Bombay High Court Issues Summons to CM Devendra Fadnavis Over Contested 2024 Assembly Win
Fadnavis, who secured a decisive win over Congress's Prafulla Gudadhe in Nagpur South-West, now faces legal scrutiny over alleged electoral irregularities.
Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has served a summons to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis following a legal challenge to his 2024 assembly election win from the Nagpur South-West constituency.
The petition, filed by Congress candidate Prafulla Gudadhe—who was defeated by a margin of 39,710 votes—seeks to nullify the election results, citing non-compliance with essential electoral norms. Gudadhe has urged the court to declare the victory of Fadnavis as invalid.
The summons, issued by Justice Pravin Patil, requires Fadnavis to respond by May 8.
In related proceedings, BJP legislators Mohan Mate (Nagpur South) and Kirtikumar Bhangdia (Chimur, Chandrapur district) have also been summoned over separate but similar election petitions.
The court is examining whether any violations of mandatory election procedures occurred during the conduct of the polls.
