Loan Harassment Turns Fatal: Four of Vadali Family Dead, One Arrested in Mass Suicide Case

Sabarkantha: In a distressing incident from the Sagarvas locality of Vadali in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, five members of a family attempted suicide by consuming poison, reportedly due to financial pressure. The tragedy unfolded late Saturday night and resulted in the deaths of four family members, with one survivor currently hospitalized.
According to police sources, the victims include Vinu Sagar Zundala, his wife Kokilaben, their daughter Krishna (also known as Bhumiben), and sons Nirav and Narendra (alias Shankar). The only survivor, Krishna, is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Gandhinagar and remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the family was under severe financial strain, allegedly worsened by persistent threats from a loan recovery agent. Authorities have arrested one person, Bhadraraj Chauhan, a private bank agent accused of harassing the family over loan repayments. He now faces charges related to abetment of suicide, and further legal proceedings are underway.
As per officials, Chauhan repeatedly intimidated the family, contributing to the psychological stress that may have led to their extreme decision. A case has been filed against him and two others as investigations continue.
