Dawoodi Bohra Leaders Thank PM Modi for Waqf Law Reforms in High-Profile Meeting

PTI reports that the community expressed strong support for the Prime Minister’s inclusive development vision.

A delegation from the Dawoodi Bohra community met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to thank him for the implementation of the Waqf Amendment Act, according to visuals shared by news agency PTI on X.

During the interaction, the representatives acknowledged that their longstanding appeal had finally been addressed. PTI also reported that the community reiterated its trust in PM Modi’s principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.”

The Dawoodi Bohras are a Muslim sect originating from Western India, with a presence in over 40 countries today. Their lineage traces back to the Fatimid Imams of Egypt, who were descendants of Prophet Muhammad. Their spiritual leadership, known as al-dai al-mutlaq (the unrestricted missionary), shifted from Yemen to India nearly 450 years ago.

In a separate development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged Governor CV Ananda Bose to delay his upcoming trip to Murshidabad, citing recent unrest in the region. Highlighting the importance of restoring calm and public trust, she noted that compensation had been announced for the families of three individuals who died during protests linked to the Waqf (Amendment) Act.
