The cast of Tumbbad 2 now includes Alia Bhatt. Actor-producer Sohum Shah formally revealed her involvement in the eagerly anticipated follow-up on Tuesday, July 14.
Sohum shared the news on Instagram by sharing a photo of herself and Alia, both of whom were dressed in black. He commented, “A new chapter unfolds,” next to the picture. @aliaabhatt #PralayAayega, welcome to #Tumbbad2. I’ll see you at the movies.
The statement was made a few months after Tumbbad 2’s December 3, 2027, theatrical release date was confirmed by the producers. After weeks of rumors, the sequel’s release date was finally revealed. The team used a motion poster and a string of mysterious social media posts to generate interest. Sohum alluded to the gloomy and enigmatic environment of the follow-up by sharing the movie’s poster earlier. “A sinful past, an ominous future,” he wrote as the description for the photo. Hunger increases as the legacy of greed persists.
“Tumbbad has always been very special to me, and with Tumbbad 2, the idea is to take that world forward in a way that feels deeper and more expansive,” Sohum stated in a press release regarding the project. While revealing new facets of the narrative, we are expanding on the mythology and ambiance that viewers found compelling. In essence, it will feel familiar, but the manner it develops will be novel. Adesh Prasad is the director of Tumbbad 2, which is produced by Sohum Shah through Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios. Pen Marudhar will distribute the movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will also play a significant part in the follow-up.
