Air Hostess Alleges Assault at Gurugram Hospital While on Ventilator

A 46-year-old air hostess has accused a staff member at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram of sexually assaulting her while she was on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU). The woman, who was admitted to the hospital on April 5 and discharged on Sunday, alleged in her complaint that the incident occurred on April 6. She claimed two nurses were present in the room but did not intervene.
The complainant, employed with a private airline, was in Gurugram for a training program when she fell ill after swimming at her hotel. Her husband transferred her to Medanta Hospital for treatment. In her police complaint, she stated that she was semi-conscious and unable to resist or speak during the alleged assault due to her critical condition.
After her discharge, the woman informed her husband about the incident, and they filed a complaint with the Gurugram police on Monday. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against unidentified hospital staff members at Sadar police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police have recorded the victim’s statement before a magistrate and are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital to identify the accused, a Gurugram police spokesperson told The Times of India.
Medanta Hospital issued a statement on Wednesday, asserting full cooperation with the investigation. Dr. Sanjay Durani, Medical Superintendent at Medanta, told that no allegations have been substantiated at this stage, and all relevant materials, including CCTV footage, have been provided to the police for examination.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify the alleged perpetrator and determine the circumstances of the incident.
