Pune: The investigation into the alleged murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after Pune Rural Police questioned a classmate of prime accused Chetan Chaudhary over his alleged prior knowledge of the murder conspiracy.
According to police sources, the classmate was aware of the alleged plan to kill Ketan Agarwal before the fatal incident at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators are now examining whether he merely knew about the conspiracy or had any role in its planning or execution. Authorities have not revealed his identity, and no charges have been announced against him so far.
Police sources further claim that the classmate was expected to be present at Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident. During questioning, he reportedly told investigators that he had attempted to dissuade Chetan Chaudhary and Siya Goyal from carrying out the alleged plan. Officials are verifying these claims through digital evidence and witness statements before deciding on any further legal action.
The case centres on the death of 26 year old Ketan Agarwal, who initially appeared to have died after falling from Lohagad Fort during a trek with his fiancee, Siya Goyal. However, investigators later alleged that the fall was not accidental but the result of a premeditated murder conspiracy involving Siya and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. Both have been arrested and deny wrongdoing. The allegations against them are yet to be tested in court.
Investigators have built the case using CCTV footage, call records, forensic evidence, crime scene reconstruction and witness statements. Police have also sought permission to conduct scientific tests, including polygraph examinations and gait analysis, as part of the ongoing probe. In recent days, officers recreated the sequence of events at Lohagad Fort to verify the prosecution’s version of the incident.
The emergence of Chetan Chaudhary’s classmate has added another dimension to the investigation, with police now attempting to establish whether any additional individuals had prior knowledge of the alleged conspiracy or played a supporting role. Investigators have not ruled out further questioning or arrests if fresh evidence emerges.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are continuing to examine digital, forensic and circumstantial evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
