Gurugram police have filed a formal case against comedian Pranit More and audience member Himanshu Jangra following a controversial exchange during a stand-up performance in the city.
The complaint was lodged at the DLF Phase 2 police station after authorities received external input highlighting the content and initiated action on their own accord. The venue owner of The Laugh Store in DLF Cyber City, where the show occurred, has also been named in the matter.
The incident gained attention after a video clip from the crowd interaction segment circulated widely online. In the footage, 22-year-old web developer Himanshu Jangra from Gurugram shared a personal anecdote about a date. He described spending ₹370 on chicken biryani for a woman and indicated an expectation of physical intimacy when she later requested a ride home. He further recounted taking her to a secluded park, framing it as a means to recoup his expenditure.
More, who was on stage at the time, reacted with laughter to the comments.
Investigators have registered the case under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which addresses the publication of obscene material in electronic form. Additional charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita include Sections 294 (obscene acts), 353(3), 75(2), and 75(3), pertaining to public mischief and offences related to outraging the modesty of a woman.

Notices have been issued to the individuals involved, requiring their cooperation in the ongoing probe. Authorities have also directed social media platforms to remove the video from circulation.
Separately, cyber police in Maharashtra have initiated their own proceedings against More, Jangra, and others connected to the show. That case, registered at the Nodal Cyber Police Station, invokes similar provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act. It references objectionable remarks concerning women, consent, and other sensitive matters, along with allegations that clips were used to drive online engagement and monetization. Another performer from the event has also been implicated in that matter for separate comments.
Police continue to investigate the full scope of the content’s dissemination and its impact.
