Curacao, the Smallest Nation in FIFA World Cup History, Scores Against Germany!

Houston/Guadeloupe: Two major FIFA World Cup teams, Germany and Sweden, secured three points with emphatic victories in their respective matches played between Sunday night and Monday morning (Indian time).

Tiny Curacao Scores a Historic Goal Against Germany

In Group E, Germany defeated Curacao 7-1. Curacao, with a population of only about 158,000, became the smallest nation in FIFA World Cup history to qualify for the tournament, setting a remarkable record.

The players from the tiny Caribbean nation produced a spirited performance against four-time world champions Germany and managed to score a historic goal, which itself was a significant achievement. Curacao’s goal was scored by Livano Comenencia, while Kai Havertz netted two of Germany’s seven goals.

Sweden Crushes Tunisia

In Group F, Sweden registered a commanding 5-1 victory over Tunisia. Sweden was ranked second in world football during the 1990s, but currently sits 38th in the FIFA rankings, while Tunisia is ranked 45th. Out of five, two goals were scored by Y. Ayari.

What Happened in the Other Two Matches?

A closely contested match between Japan and the Netherlands ended in a 2-2 draw on Monday, with both teams earning one point each.

In another match played on Monday, Ivory Coast edged Ecuador 1-0 in a thrilling encounter to claim all three points.
