Mumbai: Television actress Ankita Lokhande has once again found herself at the center of social media debate after sharing pictures from her Abu Dhabi vacation with husband Vicky Jain. The actress received backlash online after she was seen wearing a hijab while visiting a mosque during the trip.
Ankita had posted a series of vacation photos on Instagram, captioning them as moments filled with exploring, laughing and making memories. While many fans appreciated the couple’s travel diaries and cultural experiences, a section of social media users criticised the actress for wearing a hijab inside the mosque.
The trolling became more intense because Ankita was recently seen performing gau seva at a gaushala, where she and Vicky Jain were praised for feeding and caring for cows. Some users questioned her religious beliefs and accused her of being selectively secular.
However, several fans also came out in support of the actress, stating that wearing appropriate attire at a religious place is a sign of respect towards local customs and traditions. Many pointed out that tourists visiting mosques across the world are often required to cover their heads as part of the dress code.
Despite the criticism, Ankita has not reacted publicly to the trolling. The actress, best known for her role in the popular TV show Pavitra Rishta, continues to enjoy a strong fan following on social media.
