Modi to Launch Rs 3,880 Crore in Projects During Varanasi Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on April 11 to address a public rally and launch 44 projects worth Rs 3,880 crore. The visit includes inaugurating completed works like 130 rural drinking water schemes, 100 Anganwadi centers, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra, a government degree college, and urban enhancements at Shastri Ghat and Samne Ghat by the Railways and Varanasi Development Authority (VDA). Foundation stones for 25 projects worth Rs 2,250 crore will also be laid, focusing on power infrastructure with 15 new substations, transformers, 1,500 km of power lines, and a 220 kV substation near Chaukaghat, alongside airport upgrades, flyovers, and school renovations.

Security and event logistics are tightly planned, with Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal and ADG Security Raghuveer Lal detailing the deployment of 4,000 personnel, including police, PAC, and paramilitary forces, supported by six SPs, eight additional SPs, and 33 COs. The morning event at Mehndiganj, Rohaniya, on the Ring Road, aims to ease access for rural attendees, with strict entry checks, rooftop surveillance, CCTV, and drones in place. BJP City President Pradeep Agrahari said Modi’s two-and-a-half-hour visit will be met with conch shells, drums, and flowers from party workers, with the city adorned with hoardings.

The projects underscore a blend of rural and urban development, with additional initiatives like a transit hostel at Police Lines, police barracks in Ramnagar, four rural roads, three flyovers, and two stadiums in Shivpur and UP College. Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma highlighted the focus on uninterrupted electricity and infrastructure growth, including an airport tunnel, to boost the region’s connectivity and quality of life.
