Deadly Floods Ravage Parts Of China, At Least 12 Killed And Several Missing

Hunan:  Severe floods caused by relentless heavy rainfall have devastated several regions in China, leaving at least 12 people dead while many others remain missing. According to News On AIR, the worst-affected areas include the provinces of Hunan, Hubei and Guizhou, where rescue teams continue search and relief efforts.

In Hunan province, torrential rain triggered major flooding in Shimen County, resulting in five deaths and leaving 11 people unaccounted for. Authorities reportedly relocated more than 19,000 residents to safer locations as water levels rose rapidly. Officials also stated that some regions recorded rainfall amounts that surpassed historical levels.

As reported by News On AIR, neighbouring Hubei province witnessed severe urban flooding, with streets submerged under water and rescue personnel using inflatable boats to evacuate stranded residents. The flooding claimed three lives in the province, while four individuals were reported missing.

In southwestern China’s Guizhou province, four people lost their lives due to heavy rains and floods, while five others remained missing. Floodwaters damaged roads, submerged homes and disrupted communication services in several areas. Authorities shifted more than 3,700 people to temporary relief shelters.

According to state media reports cited by News On AIR, emergency response teams remain deployed in the affected regions as authorities continue monitoring weather conditions and carrying out rescue operations.
