Mumbai Traffic Disrupted After Tempo Overturns On Byculla Flyover

Mumbai: Traffic movement in parts of Mumbai was affected on Saturday morning after a goods carrier tempo overturned on a flyover near the Byculla-Lalbaug area, causing temporary congestion and slowing vehicular movement. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the incident occurred at around 8 am on May 9, drawing the attention of commuters and local residents passing through the busy route.
Visuals circulating online showed the tempo lying on its side in the middle of the flyover while several bystanders gathered near the accident spot. Police personnel were seen managing traffic and guiding vehicles through the affected stretch to prevent further congestion during the busy morning hours. Commuters travelling through the route moved cautiously as traffic slowed around the overturned vehicle.
The report stated that no injuries had been reported in the incident. Videos from the location suggested that the driver was not inside the vehicle after the accident, indicating that he may have exited safely. However, officials have not yet issued any confirmation regarding the driver’s condition or the exact reason behind the accident.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances that led to the tempo overturning on the flyover. The incident once again highlighted the issue of traffic disruptions caused by accidents on Mumbai’s busy roads and bridges, especially during peak travel hours.
In a separate incident reported recently, heavy traffic congestion was also witnessed on the Eastern Express Highway near the Vikhroli-Ghatkopar stretch after a trailer truck accident affected south-bound traffic movement during office hours.
