58 Hospitalised After Consuming ‘Dahibara’ in Jajpur

At least 58 people, including 27 children, were hospitalised in Odisha’s Jajpur district after reportedly falling ill from consuming a local delicacy.

The incident occurred in Patapur village under the Dasarathapur block, where residents had eaten ‘Cuttack Dahibara’ purchased from a local vendor. Shortly after consuming the dish, several individuals began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting and fever, prompting concern among local authorities.

All affected individuals were admitted to nearby medical facilities, including the Dasarathapur Community Health Centre and the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital, where they received treatment. Officials confirmed that some patients have already recovered, with 21 individuals discharged after their condition improved.

Speaking to reporters, Mahaling stated that preliminary findings indicate the illness may have been caused by the consumption of the contaminated food item.
