Germany Gurdwara Clash: 11 Injured as Police Deploy Tactical Units in Duisburg

A violent altercation inside a gurdwara in Duisburg, Germany, left at least 11 people injured, triggering a large-scale police operation and the deployment of special tactical units. The incident occurred in the Moers area of North Rhine-Westphalia, where tensions between two groups escalated into a serious confrontation.

According to reports, more than 40 individuals were involved in the clash. Witnesses said the fight quickly turned aggressive, with participants using sharp weapons such as knives and kirpans. There were also claims that pepper spray was used, and some reports suggested that a firearm may have been discharged during the chaos.

The violence reportedly began shortly before a religious service, catching many devotees off guard and causing panic inside the place of worship. Several people were seen fleeing the gurdwara in fear as the situation spiraled out of control. Emergency responders arrived promptly, treating the injured at the scene. Most injuries were not life-threatening, though some victims sustained head wounds.

Authorities responded with a heavy police presence, including specialized units, to secure the area and prevent further escalation. The premises were surrounded, and officers conducted a thorough search amid concerns about an armed suspect. At least one individual has been detained in connection with the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that the clash may have stemmed from an ongoing internal dispute within the gurdwara’s management. Tensions related to leadership control and financial matters are believed to have contributed to the outbreak of violence. However, officials have not confirmed the exact cause and stated that investigations are ongoing.

The incident has raised concerns within the community, as authorities continue efforts to identify those responsible and restore order.
