Trump Claims Iranian Nuclear Sites Reduced to Dust as US-Iran Negotiations

US President Donald Trump has asserted that American strikes completely destroyed Iranian nuclear facilities, describing the sites as turned to dust, even as talks between Washington and Tehran appear stalled.

Speaking on Monday, Trump referred to Operation Midnight Hammer as a “complete and total obliteration” of Iran’s nuclear sites. He stated that recovering the remaining material, which he termed “nuclear dust,” would involve a “long and difficult process.”

The president made the remarks amid an impasse in ongoing peace negotiations with Iran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticised certain media outlets, saying, “Fake News CNN, and other corrupt Media Networks and Platforms, fail to give our great aviators the credit they deserve – Always trying to demean and belittle – LOSERS!!!”

He specifically praised American pilots involved in the earlier strikes while accusing sections of the press of downplaying their achievements.

According to the Hindustan Times report, Trump’s comments come at a time when diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran have hit a roadblock. The president has repeatedly highlighted the effectiveness of past US military action against Iranian nuclear infrastructure, claiming it left behind only residual “nuclear dust” created by the bombing campaign.

The article notes that no additional details on the current status of the negotiations or responses from Iranian officials were included in the coverage beyond the context of the impasse.

Trump’s statements underscore his administration’s position on the outcome of the strikes and the challenges of any potential deal involving the remnants of Iran’s nuclear programme. The development has drawn attention as both sides navigate the complexities of reaching an agreement on the sensitive issue.

This latest assertion by the US president adds to the public discourse surrounding the future of US-Iran relations and the handling of Iran’s former nuclear capabilities following the reported destruction of key sites.
